About Me
Staring out at the horizon, the water past the harbor glimmered and the sky lit up the Statue of Liberty’s face. I was sitting at a bench with my father, mother, and my brother. My mother pointed out to the big, green, woman, and said, “That’s the Statue of Liberty!” “Where? Where?” I said. “She’s out there, in the distance,” my father said. I loved that word! Distance. It sounded like a million dreams, all packed into one. I said, “One day, can we go to the dinstance? I want to go to the dinstance.” I was maybe two or three years old, just learning my big words, so for me distance came out as dinstance. Even though I may not have pronounced it right, I still keep that dream with me.
I love to travel, cook, write, and eat, so what better should I do with my time other than writing a foodie travel cooking kid blog? I know, it’s a mouthful, but I always feel so comfortable on an airplane or in my kitchen. My family has always loved to take big summer adventures. We took a road trip, traveled around Europe, and now we are planning a trip to Asia. It was on these trips that I discovered the value and fun of learning about a new culture.
It is my belief that every kid should know how plain old AWESOME traveling, cooking, and writing are. Some kids may think going to a museum is boring, but there is so much to learn. Though I had to learn not to whine or roll my eyes when I was going to a place that may not have seemed interesting, each place was filled with its own little wonders. I wanted to share that, so with the help of family, friends, and my brain, I decided to write a blog!
I hope other kids find my blog relatable- I totally get how it feels to be stuck on a long summer haul with your family. The one thing I wanted to show everyone is that travel, cooking, and eating new foods are for everyone!
